Greg and Janice

We have spent many weeks cruising in company with Greg and Janice in the Louisiades PNG, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.  Their boat "Windchimes" is a Pugh Fairwinds 46 which Greg built.  Greg has been most helpful getting spare parts for us while we have been travelling.  They joined us again in 2009 when we took part in the Indonesia Rally.

While Greg has been most helpful to us, we were able to return the favour on our way to Darwin. Windchimes had been a few miles in front of us, sailing through the night to get the tides right.  Around 3am we had a call from Greg, they'd had a fire!

We soon caught up with them, the fire was out but the boat was full of acrid smoke.  We came alongside and arranged lines to tow them the 20 NM to Darwin.

Greg had further problems after leaving Ambon, the gearbox broke.  This necessitated a very slow trip back to Ambon, then long delays waiting on getting spares sent from Australia.

Later in Malaysia, another Rally boat, 'Reflections' had engine trouble and Greg came to the rescue, towing them to Port Dickson.
